{"id":3081,"date":"2023-08-22T08:01:15","date_gmt":"2023-08-22T14:01:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lunarg.com\/?p=3081"},"modified":"2025-01-15T17:38:21","modified_gmt":"2025-01-16T00:38:21","slug":"lunarg-releases-new-vulkan-1-3-261-0-sdks-for-windows-linux-macos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lunarg.com\/lunarg-releases-new-vulkan-1-3-261-0-sdks-for-windows-linux-macos\/","title":{"rendered":"LunarG Releases NEW Vulkan 1.3.261.0 SDKs for Windows, Linux, &#038; macOS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><strong>Vulkan SDK Version 1.3.261.0<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Released August 22, 2023<\/em><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Today LunarG released a new SDK for Windows, Linux, &amp; macOS that supports Vulkan API revision 1.3.261.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Overview of new features in SDK 1.3.261.0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The VK_LAYER_KHRONOS_shader_object emulation layer is no longer in beta status.<\/p>\n<p>The transition to full <strong>support for Apple Silicon<\/strong> progresses with the addition of the Vulkan Configurator and the Vulkan Hardware Capability Viewer &#8211; now also being universal binaries. Only the installer and maintenance tool requires Rosetta on Apple Silicon hardware at this time.\u00a0 All other components of the SDK are universal binaries.<\/p>\n<p>The Vulkan Configurator (vkconfig) has been updated to improve quality and stability.<\/p>\n<p>The Vulkan headers now include the following new extensions. Applications can now query for the presence of these new optional features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>VK_KHR_maintenance5<\/li>\n<li>VK_AMDX_shader_enqueue<\/li>\n<li>VK_EXT_host_image_copy<\/li>\n<li>VK_NV_device_generated_commands<\/li>\n<li>VK_KHR_cooperative_matrix<\/li>\n<li>VK_EXT_depth_bias_control<\/li>\n<li>VK_QNX_external_memory_screen_buffer<\/li>\n<li>VK_EXT_external_memory_acquire_unmodified<\/li>\n<li>VK_EXT_dynamic_rendering_unused_attachments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Improved validation coverage. The VUID validation coverage documentation has been updated to represent the validation layer VUID coverage status.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please Note<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Linux SDK had become very large in size.
